Course Content:

Colour Theory: Gain an in-depth understanding of color theory, including how to select and blend colors that complement different skin tones and create various makeup looks.
Skin Types: Learn to identify different skin types and conditions, and how to select and apply makeup products accordingly to achieve a flawless finish.
Infection Control: Master infection control practices specific to makeup artistry to ensure a clean and safe environment, preventing cross-contamination and maintaining client safety.
Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S): Understand and implement OH&S practices to maintain a safe working environment for both the makeup artist and the client, particularly when using various products and tools.
Client Consultation: Develop skills for conducting thorough client consultations to assess individual needs and preferences, ensuring personalized makeup applications that meet client expectations.
Contraindications: Identify contraindications and potential skin reactions to makeup products, learning how to provide safe and effective services for clients with different skin sensitivities.
Makeup Application Techniques: Learn how to expertly apply makeup for various occasions, including:
- Evening Makeup: Create dramatic and glamorous looks suitable for evening events.
- Day Makeup: Master natural and polished makeup techniques ideal for daytime wear.
- Festival Makeup: Explore creative and bold makeup styles perfect for festivals and special events.
- Bridal Makeup: Gain expertise in long-lasting and photogenic makeup application for brides.
Sourcing Makeup Products: Understand how to source high-quality makeup products and build a professional kit that caters to a range of clients and occasions.
Cleaning Brushes and Kits: Learn proper techniques for cleaning and maintaining makeup brushes and kits to ensure hygiene and prolong the lifespan of your tools.
Business of Makeup Artistry: Explore key aspects of running a successful makeup artistry business, including marketing strategies, client retention, pricing models, and establishing a professional reputation in the beauty industry.
Professional Makeup Practices: Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a professional makeup artist, including setting up a workspace, maintaining a professional demeanor, and delivering high-quality services.

PREREQUISITES

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Certificate

You'll receive an Adelaide Beauty Academy certificate of completion upon successfully passing your final assessment.

On the day

Please wear black clothes, enclosed shoes and your hair up (if possible). You can bring lunch but most of our students go across the road to get lunch at Subway, Café Primo or Sushi Train.

Models

We recommend getting different models so you can practice on different types of faces, however, in this course models can be repeated. Below are the model times:

Day 1:

Model 1: 11:30am – 1:15pm (day/natural look)

Model 2: 2:00pm – 3:45pm (day/natural look)

Day 2:

Model 3: 10:30am – 11:30am (day/natural look)

Model 4: 12:30pm – 2:00pm (glam look)

Model 5: 2:30pm – 3:45pm (mature look)

Day 3:

Model 6: 10:30am – 11:45am (bridal look)

Model 7: 12:30pm – 2:00pm (smokey eye)

Model 8: 2:15pm – 3:00pm (assessment – any look desired by model/student)

If you are unable to provide your own models we can assist you, please provide at least one week's notice. We charge an additional fee of $30 per model if we source them for you, but there's no charge if you provide your own models.

Payment

All enrolments must be made online (click on the enrol button). Enrolments require a deposit to secure your seat. The remainder of the payment can be processed through card, cash or bank transfer. We also have Afterpay and Zippay.

Rescheduling

If you reschedule within 24hrs we can move you into the next available class at no cost, if this class date does not suit you and you require an alternative date, you will be charged an administration fee of $100.

Where to next?

After this course you'll be ready to work as a MUA either from home or in a salon.

Lots of our students then go on to study Spray Tanning and Lash Extensions.

Additional Information

What is the difference between evening and bridal makeup?

An evening makeup is a more dramatic makeup. We are often using shimmer and brighter colours, or we can use darker colours and a bold lip. where as a Wedding makeup is soft, flattering and is designed to enhance the client’s natural beauty. It is very thoughtful and planned out.

What can I use to stick on festival face gems?

You can purchase face gem glue or you may wish to use a strip lash glue to help hold your gems in place.

Do I need to bring in my own products and tools?

We supply all tools and products required for the class, however if you have purchased a kit you are welcome to bring it in to begin to familiarise yourself with the products and tools you have purchased. If you are wanting to bring in your own, please let us know prior to the class the brands.
